Programs & Services » Housing Placement Assistance (HPA)
Another critical service element is our Housing Placement Assistance program. We recognize that without a stable, safe, permanent place to live, people living with HIV/AIDS cannot access needed health care and other benefits. This not only helps the community-at large, but more importantly, it helps stabilize the lives of those infected and affected by HIV/AIDS. It also answers the question of how can anyone pursue appropriate treatment and stability for themselves and family when their housing situation is unstable or there is a threat to housing stability.
Our HPA program contributes immensely to the individual’s well being while preserving their dignity and independence. The HPA team helps HIV/AIDS clients assess their housing situation and identifies possible solutions from speaking to the landlord, eviction prevention or tapping resources and contacts for more suitable housing placement. In addition, the HPA team will also help the client open a Con Ed account as well as help negotiate a lease, if necessary.
